Elon Musk’s boring company reportedly stopped work at the tunnel that was digging at Las Vegas airport late Wednesday night after workers maintained “destructive injuries.” The Nevada Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has launched an investigation.
The Clark County Fire Department received a call Wednesday at 10:12pm local time and sent 18 rescuers to the property. It is unclear exactly what happened to the workers, but the individual was lifted from the scene by a local fire station that used local cranes. The fire department told Fortune that workers are “reported to be stable.”
The boring company has excavated tunnels connecting the Las Vegas Convention Center with a handful of nearby hotel casinos for the past few years. The underground transport system offers over 3 million vehicles to a 3.5-mile tunnel currently in use. The company has far greater ambitions to connect almost everything in Las Vegas with underground tunnels, including the airport.
However, dozens of workers have been injured during the construction of these tunnels, and even the former Las Vegas Project safety manager has publicly expressed concern about the dangers facing these sites.
