Calm is launching a new standalone app for more personalized sleep support, the company announced Tuesday. The new Calm Sleep app is available on iOS and is designed to help people collapse, sleep better, wake up and refresh themselves, says Calm.
The app features Calm content with new features designed to help users achieve their sleep goals. A calm sleep begins with having people complete a short onboarding survey. The app then creates a personalized sleep plan, including recommended content and daily tasks designed to improve sleep, focusing on areas such as digital hygiene, exercise, stress reduction, and sleep environments.
Calm Sleep features a “sleep preparation” bar that increases as users complete tasks throughout the day. The company says the bar provides visual clues to help users develop better habits.
The app also syncs with wearables via Apple HealthKit, allowing users to take actions on their sleep data.
At launch, Calm Sleep will feature new sleep stories from radio host Delilah and actor Andrew Scott, along with an existing library of over 300 hours of sleep content and 500 sleep stories. Calmighty says that all new sleep content has exclusive availability for 4 weeks for calm sleep before it is released.

Calm first entered the Sleep content space with the launch of Sleep Stories 10 years ago. This is an audio bedtime story for both children and adults. Since then, the sleep story has been viewed over a billion times, says Calm.
“Calm is a global leader in sleep, with over half of our users already seeking rest and relying on some of the most widely used content and tools on the market,” said Jon Tien, Calm’s Chief Product Officer, in a press release. “Now, we showcase products that are fully built around sleep experiences, from daytime habits to nighttime routines. We help people feel more empowered, not only have they been given more information about it, but also have the ease and joy of bedtime, but they have also been more empowering.”

The free version of calm sleep allows users to explore personalized plans, daily tasks and wearable integrations. There is a calm sleep premium subscription of $69.99 a year to unlock the full content and experience of the app.
The company plans to release it on Android at some point in the future.
