Napoli head coach Antonio Conte struggled to believe Mann UTD sold Scott McTominai to the Serie A. Side.
The Red Devils allowed McTominai to join Napoli for 30 million euros (£25.4 million) in the summer of 2024, with Scott winning the Serie A title in his first season in Italy.
Matominai contributed 12 goals and four assists in 34 appearances as Napoli scored his second Scudetto in three years, but Man UTD struggled to finish 15th in the Premier League.
And former Chelsea and Tottenham boss Conte struggled to believe Man Utd would allow “a great player” Mc Tominay to leave the club.
Conte said:
“I was looking at great potential for this player and asking why Scott McTominai is not dominant in the UK.

“When the possibility happened to sign Naples, honestly, in the first moment I didn’t believe it would happen. It happened and now he’s enjoying it.
“For a player like him, he was born at Manchester United and in your career and life you may need to change and try different experiences.
Man Utd could have made another mistake by allowing Rasmus Hojlund to join Napoli on loan, using the option to buy during the summer transfer period.
Conte added: “He knew Rasmus because he played with Atalanta and then he came to Man United. In my opinion, we are 22 years old so he has an entire career before him.

“When we spoke to him, I felt that he was really happy to have this new experience and he said he was ready and wanted to play for me and Naples.
“He had great potential and now it’s up to me to improve and grow him and become a truly, really top striker. Whether they’re in the Premier League or from other championships, the key is that the players who arrive or come on the pitch can give something.
“Hozilund has not had much luck or great experience in the past few years at Man United.
“He’s 22 years old and has an entire career in front of him. He shows that he has more possibilities and I need to work on doing more, implementing and getting better.”
