Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca defended the treatment of exiled duo Raheem Sterling and the club of Axel Disaster, saying that life as a fisherman would be even more difficult.
Sterling and Disasi are part of Maresca’s “bomb squad” as they train away from their first team.
After failing to secure travel in the summer transfer window, the unnecessary pair will have to wait until January to play competitive football.
It’s not financially profitable for Chelsea, and Thursday’s report allegedly said the Professional Football Players Association (PFA) has begun consultations with the Blues over the treatment of the pair.
Maresca was asked about disasi and Sterling training apart from his team at a pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of his trip to Manchester United in Chelsea. He states: “I was in Raheem and Axel situation as a player, and I know that certainly isn’t the best feeling for a player.
“For a variety of reasons, the situation is situation at the moment is situation, but we know that the club is giving them the right way to work.”
Asked if the situation was mentally challenging for them, Maresca continued. “My dad is 75 years old and for 50 years he has been a fisherman and has worked from 2am to 10am.
Maresca added: “If we can’t find a solution, we’ll give players all the tools to train and do something, but if we’re not on the team, it’s not about Chelsea, it’s about clubs around the world.”

Chelsea will face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday, with Alejandro Garnacho expected to face his previous club.
“When he came in the last two games, he was very good,” Maresca said. “We’re happy with the way he adapts to our style and what he wants from the winger. I think he’s ready to start.”
He said, turning United away from home:
“Some of the games they played this season aren’t real results. Even the Man City game were in the game until 1-0, 2-0. At 0-0, they had some chances to score. That would be a tough game.
“Absolutely (extra pressure) I put pressure on every game to try. We always put pressure on Bayern Munich.
As for team news, Maresca confirmed that Cole Palmer was appropriate. He states:
“We need to evaluate some players. I have doubts. There have been no sessions since Wednesday’s game, but they will be shown.”
