MILAN (AP) — Diesel took the runway to the streets this season, hiding its collection in sight at locations across Italian fashion capital on the opening day of Milan Fashion Week on Tuesday.
Creative Director Glen Martens created the literal Easter Egg Hunt. The model stood on a large, clear plastic egg, showing off the edgy, youthful brand’s denim-centered suffering and treated looks.
“We decided to hand over the front row to the city of Milan. Instead of doing a show with our guests, anyone could go and see the collection at the same time,” Martens said.
The exterior of the 55-person Co-Ed in spring and summer next year was hidden in 18 locations throughout the city. “The people hidden in bars, sex clubs, gay clubs, and parts of the church are hidden in the church,” Martens said. A special preview was staged at the brand’s Milan headquarters for the fashion crowd.
At one Central Piazza, a brass band playing the Top 40 hits serenaded the crowd as a model of leaning-down, clear eggs in plaid utility pants and a V-neck T-shirt, while the other danced in ruffled knitwear paired with rack skirts and floral tights.
