Waymo’s ever-expanding Robotaxi aspirations are spreading across the corporate world.
Alphabet-owned self-driving vehicle units have launched Waymo for Business, a new service designed for businesses to set up accounts so employees can access Lobotaxis in cities such as Los Angeles, Phoenix and San Francisco.
Waymo announced in a blog post Wednesday that it was inviting its organization to sign up for Waymo for Business. The new service allows businesses to support grants to employee vehicle vehicles or buy large quantities of promo codes to be distributed to clients, customers, or workers. Waymo for Business Rides costs the same as regular services.
One of Waymo’s first customers is Carvana, an online used car market based in Phoenix.
Riders have already commute using Waymo’s Robotaxis, which is the company’s first coordinated commercial effort to target companies and other organizations. Waymo says nearly one in six of local riders in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Phoenix relies on Waymo to work or attend school.
Today users open the Waymo app (or some cities like Austin, Uber app) and ride. That process remains the same for employees whose businesses sign up for Waymo for Business. The change is what the control company can do to its services.
Through Waymo for Business Service, businesses can access a business portal that allows organizations to control their ride programs. Corporate customers can direct the geographical area where employees use Robotaxis, pick-up and drop-off locations, monitor ride activity and track budgets.

Waymo said once it launches commercial operations in these markets, it plans to provide new business services to other cities such as Washington, DC and Miami.
Waymo has expanded its operations over the past 18 months and has become the dominant Robotaxi service provider in the United States. The company expanded its commercial services from Phoenix to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Austin and Atlanta. More cities are scheduled for 2026.
However, there is also a need for other ways to attract customers beyond expanding their geographic footprint. Waymo accessed Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, San Joseminateta International Airport and soon San Francisco Airport, unlocking key services that directly compete with passenger companies Uber and Lyft. It also partners through the Public Transit Services Company, opening Robotaxis for teenagers.
