Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is not yet to be sacked, but there is still opposition to the Red Devils wanting to talk to another manager, according to reports.
There were rumors before the match against Sunderland that Manchester United could consider replacing him during the international break if there was a poor result.
But Amorim led the Red Devils to a 2-0 victory over the Black Cats at Old Trafford last weekend, seeing Man United move into the top half of the Premier League.
Amorim has been inconsistent in form and currently looks one worse off from the extra pressure, but the Manchester United head coach will face Liverpool at Anfield in his first game back after the international break.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be keen to rate Amorim after three years at Old Trafford, but the Portuguese’s record of 37 goals in 34 Premier League games is sure to ring alarm bells in the boardroom.
Mr Ratcliffe told the Business Podcast: “Ruben has three years to prove that he is a great coach.

Asked if Amorim would be given three years, Ratcliffe said: “Yes, I would. Three years. Because football doesn’t happen overnight.”
“That’s three years. You see with[Mikel]Arteta at Arsenal. He had a miserable first few years.
“We have to be patient. We have a long-term plan. It’s not a light switch.”
“You can’t run a club like Manchester United by reacting randomly to journalists who abuse you every week.”
Asked what would happen if the Glazers told Amorim to fire him, Ratcliffe said, “That’s not going to happen.”
Ratcliffe added: “That probably sums it up: we’re local and they’re across the pond.
“It’s a long way to run a big, complex football club like Manchester United. We’re here with our feet on the ground.
“They (Glazers) get a bad rap…but they’re really good guys and really passionate about the club.”

However, our friends at TEAMtalk insist that Amorim has “missed out on key goals” recently ahead of the international break, but his job at Old Trafford is “secure for now”.
Journalist Rudy Galetti, writing for TEAMtalk, claimed that some club officials are “quietly pushing the evaluation of other options” after Amorim failed to achieve the “simple” target set by Manchester United.
The Old Trafford bosses had hoped the Man United boss would “achieve nine points” in three Premier League games before the international break, but the Red Devils’ defeat at Brentford put them short of that goal.
Sky Sports’ reporter Kaveh Solhekor insists Ratcliffe’s comments about Amorim’s future do not mean the Manchester United board will give the Portuguese head coach a three-year appointment at the club.
Solhekol said: “We all know how football works and Manchester United have four games left before the next international break against Liverpool, Brighton, Forest and Spurs.
“What if they lose all their games? There will be another international break. Everyone will be talking about Ruben Amorim’s future again.
“This is a very important intervention with Jim Ratcliffe coming in and backing Reuben Amorim. Personally, I don’t think that support is 100 percent. If you actually look at the quote, he’s not coming out and no matter what, Reuben Amorim isn’t leaving. He’s going to be the head coach for the next three years.”
“He’s just saying, ‘Ruben needs three years to prove he’s a great manager.’ ‘We have to be patient,’ ‘We have a long-term plan,’ ‘It’s not a light switch.’
“It’s not a light switch, but Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in the world. I would say the only clubs that can match them by world standards are Real Madrid and Barcelona.
“What would Spanish journalists who cover Real Madrid and Barcelona say if Real Madrid finished 15th in the table? What would they say if Real Madrid finished last in the table with a new manager?”
