Manchester United are scouting Bayern Munich midfielder Aleksandar Pavlovic ahead of a potential move in January, according to reports.
The Red Devils have once again shown their inconsistent form from last season, with Man United winning three, losing three and drawing one of their first seven Premier League games.
Ruben Amorim led the Red Devils to a 15th-place finish last season, but he needs to do even better this term to keep his job after spending more than £200m on new players over the summer.
They improved their attacking power with the introduction of Benjamin Sesco, Matheus Cunha and Brian Mbeumo, while Senne Lamence impressed with a goal on his debut against Sunderland before the international break.
However, there was one major area where Man United failed to improve, with many fans and former players expecting them to strengthen their midfield.
There were also links with Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleva, but the Seagulls’ high asking price ended any realistic chance of them signing the Cameroon international during the summer.

And now former Man United chief scout Mick Brown – who still has close links with Old Trafford – claims the Red Devils are “keeping an eye on” 21-year-old Pavlovic as Amorim “hopes” for a new midfielder in January.
Brown told Football Insider: “I know that Amorim wants to sign a midfielder in January.
“They need players who can move around the pitch, who are not afraid to step in and have the desire and energy to make a difference all over the pitch.
“But at the moment they are relying a lot on Bruno Fernandes, so they also have players who can hold the ball and help move forward on the pitch.
“Ideally, we would have a player like Moises Caicedo, who can do everything at Chelsea.

“They are looking at a number of options across Europe and we have previously talked about Wharton in the Premier League, for example.
“Bayern Munich’s Pavlovic is a player they’ve been eyeing and a player they’ve been looking at.
“Whether they are willing to let him go is up to United to know, but they are looking at him and a number of other options in the January window.”
Italian website Tutto Juve claim that Man United could also consider further improvements up front, with the Red Devils “ready to offer €90m” for Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz for £78m.
Quotidiano Sportivo insists Juventus should be “wary of offers” from the Premier League, while the website backs up previous claims that Man United are willing to pay between €85 million and €90 million for the Turkey international.
