As wildfires continue to rage across Southern California, some Los Angeles residents received an evacuation warning that was not intended for them.
Sent via the Alert LA County program, the notification was reportedly only meant for the areas affected by the Kennith Fire, telling recipients: “An EVACUATION WARNING has been issued in your area.”
It advised, “Remain vigilant of any threats and be ready to evacuate. Gather loved ones, pets, and supplies. Continue to monitor local weather, news, and the webpage alertla.org for more information.”
Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn explained that the alert “was mistakenly issued countywide due to a technical error,” noting that “a correction will be issued shortly.”
“Disregard last EVACUATION WARNING. It was for Kennith Fire only,” the subsequent alert read.
