Mohamed Salah “went straight down the tunnel” and “hurried” after Liverpool’s 5-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday, taking to social media to air his petty grievances after the match.
Ahead of the match in Germany, Salah was removed from the slot starting lineup – dropped rather than ‘rotated’ – as the Reds put an end to the rot that had seen them lose four games on the bounce.
Rasmus Christensen’s opening goal was followed by goals from Hugo Ekitike, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Kodi Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Despite the victory, doubts remain for Slott’s side, even though the Bundesliga side represented an incredibly calm opponent, and the Dutch manager may now have to deal with a disgruntled Salah.
“Mo Salah went straight down the FT tunnel,” Daily Mail reporter Lewis Steele said in X before deleting the post. There were a lot of positives for Liverpool from tonight, but he looked nervous. ”
Jamie Carragher praised Slott’s “excellent decision” to let Salah go after his team’s dramatic slump this season.
He told CBS Sports: “It remains to be seen what will happen in the match, but I think it is right that Mo Salah is treated like one of the other players when he is not the ‘legendary Mo Salah’.
“And don’t forget his age, he’s 33 and Liverpool will play three games in six days.
“So if he’s not at his best at the moment he shouldn’t play six games in three days because there are other options. I know Liverpool have spent a lot of money and they have a big game coming up on Saturday (against Brentford). Great decision, Arne.”

Salah came off the bench in the closing stages and had several chances, including one where he opted to shoot from an angle rather than connect the ball with Florian Wirths for a tap-in.
And after the match, he changed both his X profile picture and cover photo to hint at his frustration at being dropped into the slot.
The Egyptian player’s photo of himself holding the Premier League title aloft has been replaced with a snap of himself and his two children, while the cover photo has been changed from one of him holding the Champions League trophy with his Reds teammates to a plain gray background.
Carragher said after United’s defeat that he did not believe Salah had the same untouchable status as Van Dijk at Liverpool.
“I think we’re at a stage now where Mo Salah shouldn’t be guaranteed to be a starter every week,” he told the Gary Neville Podcast.
“I think this is a real challenge for the manager going forward.
“I don’t think Salah should be a ‘first name on the team sheet’ like Virgil van Dijk.
“He’s not playing well. He’s a legend, one of the greatest players to have ever played in the Premier League. But I don’t think there should be an absolute guarantee that he’ll start every game, especially away games.”
“I’m thinking about the next two games, against Frankfurt and then against Brentford on Saturday. Given his age and the way he’s playing, I don’t think it’s justified for him to play in every game.”
