Manchester United are set to sell captain Bruno Fernandes on a conditional basis, according to reports, and he has commented on the possibility of a dream move.
Fernandes has been heavily linked with a move away from Man United in recent months.
The Portugal international was Manchester United’s best player during their disastrous 2024/25 season, but could have left in the summer as he attracted strong interest from Saudi Professional League side Al Hilal.
Man United were expected to earn around £100m from the move, so it was initially reported that he was likely to leave, but Fernandes ultimately chose to remain at Old Trafford.
Despite this, the United captain remains linked to a potential move, although manager Fabrizio Romano has already debunked reports suggesting a deal has been agreed.

Now, a new report from BBC Sport has revealed Fernandes’ position on a potential move to the Middle East, while a “clause” opens the door to an exit in 2026.
The report explains:
“Sources close to him have previously told BBC Sport that he has no intention of moving to Saudi Arabia next summer as major European clubs outside the Premier League are more interested.”
“Fernandes’ contract expires in 2027 but has an additional one-year option and is understood to include a clause that could see him join a club outside England for £56.68 million (€65 million) if triggered early enough.”
Fernandes has also been interviewed about his situation at Man United. The player has admitted that he would like to return to Sporting Lisbon in the future, but also revealed why he turned down a move to Al Hilal in the summer.
“If I have the chance to play in Portugal again, I will always put Sporting in front of everyone and get the chance to play for them again,” Fernandes said.

“But we still feel like home here. When I talk to my family, they often say that the house here feels more like home than the one in Portugal.
“Everyone knows that my goal is to win the Premier League and the Champions League[with United]. I can’t say whether we will achieve that or not.”
“My first question when I spoke to my wife[in the summer]was, ‘Look, I have an offer from Saudi Arabia,’ and the first thing she said was, ‘Have you achieved everything you wanted to achieve at the club?’ Because she knows that I haven’t.
“And when I talk about not achieving my dreams at the club, it comes from what she told me. And obviously, I’m not confident and she’s not sure if I can achieve it. But if I don’t try, that’s for sure I won’t achieve it.”
Despite this, Fernandes insists he is not willing to discuss a potential transfer until “after the World Cup”.
“As I always say, I feel good here. I still want to realize my dreams,” Fernandes added.
“I can’t speak for the club. I’ve seen a lot of people say that there was already an agreement for me to go next season. If the club had that agreement, it wasn’t with me. I haven’t spoken to anyone. I can’t speak for the club.”
“My agent knows how I work. If he wants to talk to me, it will be after the World Cup. Until then, I won’t talk to anyone.”
