Manchester United have reached a “decision” on whether to let Koby Mainu go, with another star player “leaving in January”, according to reports.
Mainu has fallen through the ranks at Man United under head coach Reuben Amorim and is in a difficult situation.
The England international made a remarkable breakthrough for Manchester United and England in the 2023-24 season, but injuries, a decline in form and the arrival of Amorim have taken a toll.
Amorim is clearly not a big fan of Maynou, but he has only played bit parts over the past year as the United manager preferred Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro in midfield.
This has sparked reports linking Mainu with a move away from Man United, with the 20-year-old reportedly requesting a loan move in the summer.

At the time, Serie A powerhouse Napoli were leading the race to sign him, but Man United refused to let him leave, believing that they would have no choice if he left.
Mainoo has been linked with a possible departure in recent days, but a new report from Football Insider claims Man United have made a “decision” on his future ahead of the winter transfer window, with the club “refusing to let him leave on loan just yet”.
It is said that there is one reason for this judgment.
The report adds:
Sources say Ruben Amorim intends to keep him and is seen as a key part of their plans for the remainder of the season.
“According to sources, Mainu will join Amorim in the midfield behind Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes.”

However, Joshua Zirkzee is far more likely to leave Man United in January.
The forward has barely featured for Man United this season as he ranks behind Benjamin Sesco, Matheus Cunha and Brian Mbeumo.
Zirksee was rumored to be leaving the club in the summer, but it looks like he will follow in the footsteps of Rasmus Hojlund in the coming months.
Zirksee, who was caught offside, said he would “leave in January” as he “recognizes that normal football is essential” in a World Cup year.
The report claims:
“The striker wants a solution in the January transfer window and a move from Old Trafford is very likely, sources close to the agent industry have told CaughtOffside.”
The club, on the other hand, are looking to cash in on the asking price of between 35 million euros and 40 million euros. United currently have the advantage of having the player under contract until June 2029. ”
