Liverpool could conditionally ‘sack’ head coach Arne Slott ahead of a ‘crucial week’ in securing his job at Anfield, according to reports.
Under Slott, Liverpool had been on the verge of winning their 20th Premier League title at the end of the 2024/25 season.
Slott’s debut season at Anfield went better than anyone expected, getting more out of Jurgen Klopp’s side than his predecessor and leading the Reds to the Premier League title.
Despite this, Slott and FSG decided to completely revamp Liverpool’s squad in the summer, spending over £400m to fill the holes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jarrell Quansah, Harvey Elliott, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.
Liverpool twice broke British transfer records to sign Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, while also spending big on Hugo Ekitike, Jeremy Frimpong and Milos Kerkes.

This overhaul has affected Liverpool’s balance, as Slot’s squad lacked cohesion at the start of this season, with most of their top performers struggling.
Liverpool were fortunate to start this season on a winning note, relying on late goals and great moments from key players, but that luck has run out in recent weeks.
The Premier League giants have lost six of their last seven games in all competitions, with their latest defeat knocking Slott’s side out of the Carabao Cup after losing 3-0 to Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.
Liverpool have also fallen from first to seventh in the Premier League, and Slott is currently one of the frontrunners to be the next manager to be sacked.
The next few days won’t get any easier for Slott, as Liverpool have a big week ahead of them with games against Aston Villa, Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Now, a report in Spanish outlet Fichajes claims that Slot is “running out of time” as he “could be fired” if this “important week” does not go his way.
It is said that matches against Villa, Real Madrid and City could decide his “fate”.
The report adds:
“Four consecutive Premier League defeats have damaged confidence in the dressing room and demand for his leadership has increased due to the lack of victory.
“Arne Slott faces an important week. Liverpool face Aston Villa and Manchester City in the Premier League and Real Madrid in the Champions League.” These games could mark the end of his tenure. ”
Nevertheless, the BBC Sport report explains why there is “no chance” that Mr Slott will be sacked.
The newspaper said: “Liverpool are calm within the club and do not make hasty or panic decisions, certainly not where the manager who won the Premier League last season is involved.”
“Liverpool’s owners are cautious. They have seen Slott win the title in his first season and I am sure that the many changes made in the summer will be accepted and understood.”
