TikTok announced Monday that it will launch its first TikTok Awards show in the United States. Awards include “Creator of the Year,” “Video of the Year,” “Muse of the Year,” and “Breakthrough Artist of the Year.”
The announcement comes just weeks after Instagram introduced its “Ring” awards program. However, unlike Instagram, TikTok takes a more traditional approach to awards, hosting actual awards ceremonies where winners are announced live. TikTok said the event will feature a red carpet, live performances, and a live audience with hundreds of creators.
The awards ceremony will be held at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on December 18th and will be streamed live on the TikTok app and Tubi. The show will be available to stream on-demand on Tubi starting the next day.
Users will be able to vote for their favorite creators on TikTok’s new portal when it launches on November 18th.
It’s worth noting that while this is TikTok’s first awards ceremony in the United States, it has previously held similar events in other countries including Germany, Mexico, and South Korea.
The nominees for “Creator of the Year” are adamw and alixearle. brookemonk_, keith_lee125, kristy.sarah. The nominees for “Breakthrough Artist of the Year” are alexwarren, katseyeworld, laufey, ravynlenae, and sombr.
Other award categories include “Storyteller of the Year,” “TikTok for Good Award,” “MVP of the Year,” “OK Slay Award,” “TikTok LIVE Creators of the Year,” and more.

By launching the awards ceremony, TikTok is trying to position itself as more than just a social media app and a force to be reckoned with in the entertainment industry. Considering TikTok serves as a launching pad for several emerging artists and actors, it makes sense for the company to celebrate its top users with its own branded programming.
“The trophies presented on stage will shine a bright light on the creators who are defining this new era of culture, which encompasses many fields, including fashion, beauty, sports, television and film, new forms of entertainment, and more,” TikTok said in a statement.
