Former Man Utd winger Lee Sharp has insisted the Red Devils should consider upgrading Diogo Dalot, who has “sloppy decision-making” in defense.
The Red Devils have bounced back from a shaky start to the season and are now third in the Premier League, just one point behind defending champions Liverpool.
Man United have won three and drawn one of their last four Premier League games as the pressure on Ruben Amorim has almost completely eased.
Despite a string of impressive results, there are still areas of concern for Man United fans and former players, with Sharp insisting Dalot needs an upgrade at right-back.
Speaking to Adventure Gamers, Sharp said: “Diogo Dalot and Patrick Dorg have been struggling as Manchester United’s left wing-backs this season.
“I’ve always thought Dalot’s decision-making was a bit sloppy at times. He gives the ball away too easily, gets caught out of position defensively, and I don’t think he’s able to get close enough to the wingers when he’s crossing the ball. So there are some things in his game that I feel need to improve.

“I think it’s an area Man United will want to focus on in January or next summer. Dorg could be a pretty good player, but he’s had a few injuries and his form has been a bit inconsistent so he’s not reliable yet.”
Manchester United spent more than £200m on new signings in the summer transfer window, with Brian Mbeumo joining as one of five new signings.
The Cameroon international has adapted better than any of the summer signings, scoring five goals in 11 competitive games, including three in his last three games.
Regarding Mbeumo, Sharp added: “Brian Mbeumo has been really good this season. His ability to create chances and score goals, but also his awareness of what’s going on in the game, has particularly impressed me.”

“He’s always involved in the game in one way or another. He never switches off and you can tell he used to play in the Premier League. His work rate is also incredible. He’s always trying to hit the gaps and create space for others.”
“For me, he’s on par with the best wingers in the Premier League at the moment. He’s scoring goals, he’s creating chances and his stats are among the best in this division at the moment.”
Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in January as Man United look to upgrade their midfield.
And now journalist Andy Mitten claims Man United are “well placed” to sign a Premier League midfielder in the January transfer window.
Mitten said on the podcast “The Talk of the Devils.” “At the moment Elliott Anderson is the one who would be in a good position for Manchester United. I’m choosing my words very carefully.
“When I start looking at the team, yes, the midfield is going to change over the next few years.”
