WASHINGTON (AP) — Senator John Fetterman According to his office, he was hospitalized due to a flare-up of ventricular fibrillation, felt unsteady and fell while taking a walk early Thursday morning, and after being hospitalized, he returned to his family in Pennsylvania.
Fetterman, of Pennsylvania, posted a photo to X on Saturday showing the damage to his nose and forehead, saying he had “20 stitches and is now fully recovered and back home with his wife Gisele and children.”
A smiling Fetterman also thanked the medical team in Pittsburgh for “getting me back on my feet.”

According to the American Heart Association, ventricular fibrillation is the most serious form of abnormal heartbeat and can cause cardiac arrest or sudden cardiac death, when the heart suddenly stops beating.
Ventricular fibrillation occurs in the lower chambers of the heart, and causes include cardiomyopathy, which Fetterman was diagnosed with in 2022, according to the Heart Association. Cardiomyopathy can block blood flow and cause irregular heartbeats that can be fatal.
