Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate has received a ‘final offer’ from the Reds, giving him one last chance to renew his contract, according to reports.
The Reds’ centre-back has come under a lot of criticism this season, but he’s not the only one in Arne Slott’s side, with Liverpool currently sitting eighth in the Premier League.
After winning the Premier League title in Slott’s first season, Liverpool have lost five of their last six league games and are eight points behind leaders Arsenal.
Like Trent Alexander-Arnold last season, Konate’s contract expires at the end of June and he has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
Liverpool are still looking to renew the France international’s contract, and he showed what he is capable of in the second half of last season.
During his spell with France, Konate denied that Liverpool had offered him a new contract, but admitted that negotiations were still ongoing.

“As far as I’m concerned, I’ve seen a lot, especially in the media. I recently saw that Liverpool made a new offer for me,” Konate said.
“I don’t know where that information came from. But right now my agent is still in talks with Liverpool. I hope that my decision will be taken and that I will be able to announce my actions soon.”
However, Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri told Swiss Sky Sports that Liverpool had made a very generous “final offer” for Konate.
“This is a final offer,” Tavolieri wrote. At Liverpool, Ibrahima Konate’s situation has become clear. The offer currently being considered would be the last one put forward by the Reds. The Reds believe they are being very generous to the Frenchman, who has made numerous offers to Real Madrid in recent months… and is still flirting with the rock of the French national team.
“If Konate accepts the terms proposed, he will become one of the highest-paid players in Arne Slott’s team. This is a sign of our complete confidence in him.”
“Now more than ever, French players have a choice to make: accept what they have, or wait to get what they have always wanted: the chance to play for Real Madrid.”
“A decision will be made in the coming weeks…”

Speaking about joining Liverpool, Konate added in an interview with International Ditty: “Before my transfer was announced, the manager Jurgen Klopp warned me: ‘Your status will change’. The day after the announcement, the number of followers on my Instagram account tripled.”
“Football means everything in Liverpool and our city center beats to the rhythm of the Reds.
“What shocked me was not the new environment, but the enormity of the club.
“Everything is different. After signing for Liverpool, I was allowed to be on the other side of the world on holiday with my family, even though I had no training.
“We quickly realized that there was a lot of media pressure. A bad performance can have serious consequences, but at RB Leipzig our every move was not scrutinized. Football is different too. It’s unforgiving. Even the slightest mistake is punished severely.”
