A year ago, e-commerce giant Amazon launched a new online car sales venture with Hyundai. Now, Ford has joined the certified pre-owned vehicle initiative.
Ford announced Monday that customers will now be able to shop, finance and buy certified pre-owned Ford vehicles on Amazon Autos. The partnership will ensure that dealerships, an important source of revenue for Ford, remain informed. Ford says customers can browse inventory at participating local dealers directly through the Amazon website, complete most paperwork online and schedule a time to pick up their chosen vehicle.
Ford said certified pre-owned vehicles sold by Amazon Auto dealers come with a money-back guarantee. Customers can return the vehicle within 14 days or 1,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Amazon Autos works similarly to the rest of the broader Amazon e-commerce ecosystem. Shoppers can search available vehicles from participating dealers by model, trim, color and features. Customers can also secure financing and electronically sign documents through the Amazon Autos site.
When Amazon Autos launched last year, it focused on selling new cars, namely Hyundais. The addition of Ford opens up another, albeit related, market for certified pre-owned vehicles.
Ford vehicles on Amazon Autos will initially be available in a handful of markets, including Los Angeles, Seattle, and Dallas.
