Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Brazilian superstar Neymar, but while there is one thing that is said to be ‘feasible’, there are undoubtedly a few more issues.
United’s attack has improved with the recent signings of good players. In the summer, they added Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Brian Mbeumo to their attacking line-up.
Everyone scored, each looked like they were playing their part, and Mbeumo was the star of the show, earning him the Premier League Player of the Month award for October.
A signing from within the Premier League appears to have been the best result for United so far, but it is linked with a shock move for Neymar, who returned to his boyhood club Santos this season.
According to Fichajes, the Brazilian is aware that remaining in Brazil could jeopardize his position with the national team and is considering a change of pace as he is linked with United.
Neymar has spent almost a year injured and hasn’t played for Brazil since 2023, playing for Al Hilal and now Santos, and is not at the level he once was.
He has scored three goals in 16 games in Brazil’s Serie A this season, and his contract expires at the end of the season in December.
It is known that he could be on the move, with Fabrizio Romano recently saying:
“It’s an interesting situation as Neymar could consider a move in the January transfer window. Right now, Neymar wants to focus 100 percent on his priorities, avoid relegation for Santos and do what’s best for the club.”
“Neymar has not had any preliminary negotiations at the moment, but there are voices trying to understand Neymar’s situation.
“When a player of his level comes on the market, it’s obviously an opportunity. Well, maybe Neymar isn’t in the best of health right now. Neymar is coming back from an injury and he’s had some injuries recently.”
“But now he’s back, he’s feeling better and he’s trying to help Santos.
“He’s trying to find his best condition. So keep an eye on Neymar, because he could be one of the players to watch in the January transfer window on a free transfer, so it could be an interesting situation.”
Fichajes said a move to United was “feasible” but Neymar is said to need global exposure if he is to return to the Brazil squad, suggesting a lack of competition in Europe could be a drawback.

However, Neymar is in no position to make such demands after three years away from the elite league, and United should tread carefully.
They seem to be back in a good position, challenging for the top of the Premier League, but signing Neymar from the past won’t help them.
If he fails to make an impact when he arrives (which he probably will, considering he hasn’t played at a good level in years), it could only create dissatisfaction within the club, and he would have wasted his transfer trying to get someone to fulfill his wish to return to the Brazilian side.
Furthermore, any other player would not dream of signing a player who only scored three league goals last season, so signing Neymar would essentially be for his name alone.
If Neymar were to leave, it would be a bad prospect for him as well. After an emotional return home with the best song of his career, deciding that the situation is actually not good and that he would be better off going and playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world is probably not the best choice.
