Sunderland have enjoyed an excellent start to the season in their return to the Premier League, and no one is more clearly dazzled than Wes Brown. Wes Brown truly believes their form is good enough to ‘captivate’ the £70m Barcelona midfielder.
The Black Cats sit fourth in the Premier League having lost just two of their 11 games so far, taking a point from defending league leaders Arsenal and securing a 2-2 draw with the Gunners.
And, noting huge speculative reports that Sunderland are preparing to pay Barcelona €80m to trigger Fermin López’s release clause, Brown believes the Spain international would welcome a move from Catalonia to the north-east of England.

Fermin was linked with a move to Chelsea in the summer, but he passed it up to compete for a place in Hansi Flick’s side. This seems like a wise decision as he has six goals and four assists in 11 games this season.
Still, there is “no” reason why he won’t move to Sunderland.
“Sunderland have had a great start to the season. There are some great characters in that team,” Brown told BetRight Casino. “I think some of the Sunderland fans didn’t expect it, but you could see the togetherness of the group.
“I saw Fermin López linked with the club for 80 million. That’s a lot of money! But guess what? They can attract players like that. If you’re still flying around the league, you might start thinking you can secure certain players.”
“If there are players who are not happy with the way things are and want to come to the Premier League, there is no reason why a player like Lopez won’t get that chance if Sunderland continue at this level of form.”
Brown commented on Sunderland’s start to the season, stating that they must aim to finish as high as possible, rather than settling for survival.
He said: “There is no doubt that Sunderland are one of the main candidates for pre-season relegation and that group must have seen that in the media. And that’s the type of thing that can motivate a team like that.”
“They’re going to want to show that that’s not the case. They want to go out there and play the way they know they can. They’ve got some guys who have done really well for the team, but they’re all thinking together and that’s what we need.”
“They have the belief that they can stand on their own two feet in the league. They are now beyond a safe point and have more than half a point under their belts and are thinking seriously about how high they can finish.”
“They are a great team that is difficult to beat and you have to praise the whole setup.”
