IBM and AMD are partnering to develop a next-generation computing architecture that integrates IBM quantum systems with AMD’s AI-specialized chips. This move will position both the tech giant and the chipmaker as key infrastructure players.
Together, IBM and AMD try to launch a commercially viable quantum computing architecture. In other words, each IBM is more accessible to researchers and developers who solve complex real-world problems in areas such as drug and material discovery, optimization, and logistics.
“Quantum Computing simulates the natural world and expresses information in a whole new way,” said Arvind Krishna, chairman and CEO of IBM, in a statement. “By investigating how quantum computers from IBM and AMD’s advanced high-performance computing technologies can work together, we will build a powerful hybrid model that goes beyond the limits of traditional computing.”
