Airbnb is piloting a service with Instacart that lets guests order groceries directly through the Airbnb app before and during their stay, the company confirmed to TechCrunch on Wednesday.
“We regularly test new product updates, categories, and initiatives to provide our community with the best experience possible,” an Airbnb spokesperson said in an email. “As part of this, we will be piloting groceries with Instacart in select markets across the U.S. starting in January, following the launch of our Airbnb service earlier this year.”
The new kitchen stocking service is available to select hosts with qualifying listings in Phoenix, Orlando and Los Angeles, according to a help page on Airbnb’s website.
The news was first reported by Bloomberg.
According to the help page, hosts will receive $25 if they pick up a guest’s pre-order and put it away before check-in. You will also receive a $100 bonus for your first completed order. Guests will be able to order with Instacart from the Airbnb app up to three weeks before their stay.
“By bringing Instacart-powered groceries directly into the Airbnb app, guests can easily stock their kitchens and feel at home from day one,” an Instacart spokesperson said in an email. “We are excited to partner with Airbnb on this pilot and leverage our extensive retailer network and cutting-edge technology for our guests.”
The new partnership with Instacart is the latest addition to Airbnb’s Services, which launched in May and allows guests to book services and experiences like massages, haircuts and chef-prepared meals. These services can be added to your stay or booked separately.

With the launch of the service, Airbnb now competes more directly with other travel companies such as Tripadvisor, Booking.com, Viator, and GetYourGuide.
Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky said the service could help the company generate more than $1 billion in additional revenue annually.
