Former Manchester United star Anthony has spoken out again about his departure from the Premier League giants, revealing the “horrifying” circumstances.
Man United underwent a major overhaul of their squad in the summer, with the club’s leaders clearing most of the dead wood to raise funds and investing around £230 million in signings Senne Lamence, Benjamin Sesko, Brian Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.
Anthony was part of United’s so-called ‘bomb squad’ who were deemed fit under head coach Ruben Amorim and made a permanent move to Real Betis in the summer following a loan spell last season.
The Brazil international failed to live up to expectations at Man United following his £86 million move from Ajax, and was often criticized for his poor performances and attitude.
However, Anthony regained his form at Real Betis and was keen to secure a permanent move in the summer, with the deal completed in the final days of the transfer window.

Anthony admitted he was “a bit scared” of missing out on the summer move, but did not have “a lot of contact” with Amorim before his departure.
“I didn’t talk much with Reuben Amorim. We didn’t have much contact,” Anthony said in an interview with AS.
“His decision to allow me to train separately was natural, but I had to respect it.
“Today I’m fine. Even though I was away, I trained well and took care of myself. Three months later I was able to play 90 minutes. This is the result of all the work I’ve been working on.”
He added: “The bad experiences I had in England made me mentally stronger.
“Now I value my mental side more, because I know that when I am in a good mental state, things will go well.”

Rasmus Hjølund also left Manchester United in the summer to join Napoli and has had an impressive start to the season.
Danish coach Brian Riemer believes Hojland’s struggles at Man United are not to blame, as he is currently benefiting from playing in a “well-functioning team”.
“I think Rasmus has the quality to play in both leagues, without any debate,” Riemer said.
“‘Is he suitable for Italian football? Yes. There was no doubt about that, because he had already proven it. But that doesn’t mean he is not suitable for English football. In fact, I would almost say so.’
“The fact that he is now in a team that is working well and has players around him who take pride in contributing for others helps produce results for a striker like Rasmus, who needs treatment. It is more important than which league he plays in.”
