SC Columbia (AP) – Arkansas Government Sarah Huckabee Sanders It is set to be the latest event headlines for the biggest Republican gathering in South Carolina, the traditional key to choosing GOP presidential candidates, and the latest event for the event being billed as the largest Republican gathering as the state she already has a deep connection to.
Rep. Sheri Biggs, South Carolina’s District 3rd District, told The Associated Press that Sanders will become a feature speaker at her salute scheduled for Aug. 18 in Anderson. In an interview last week, Biggs said the governor “represents what the people in the third district believe, our morals, our belief in hardworking people who love our Lord, who want to live in peace with their families and protect their conservative values.”
Historically, the South Carolina venue, a catalyst for Republican White House hopefuls, offers Sanders the opportunity to introduce himself to around 2,000 party activists. It is also a crowd that President Donald Trump served as spokesman during his first administration – remains popular.
The name comes up, Sanders Potential 2028 presidential candidatehis father, former Arkansas governor and current US ambassador of Israel Mike Huckabee have traveled to South Carolina since sought a GOP nomination in 2008. She has recently been with other early voting countries themselves, including a speech earlier this month at the Iowa Family Leadership Summit, an annual event held by conservative Christian groups.
For years, the South Carolina opportunity was billed with Rep. Jeff Duncan’s faith and freedom barbecue, a fundraiser that benefits his reelection campaign. A conservative rich region has become a showcase for future White House candidates, including then-president Mike Pence, sens. Ted Cruz, Tim Scott Marco Rubio, former UN ambassador and the South Carolina government. Nikki Haley.
The barbecue was covered weeks after the 2023 event when Duncan’s wife filed for divorce and said that lawmakers left her and had sexual relations with a lobbyist and had been dishonest during their 35-year marriage. Last year, Duncan I chose not to seek reelection Until the eighth term, following a 2023 decline in his reputation for conservative family values.
In her first political run, Biggs, a nurse practitioner and air force officer, defeated a major Trump-backed opponent last year. Mark Burns, a black pastor who has been by Trump’s side for nearly a decade, had failed to make his appearance in Congress twice before.
The Biggs easily won a district general election that has been at the hands of the GOP since Republican Lindsey Graham, who is currently seeking a term in the US Senate, won in 1994. Six months later, Biggs said she knows she wants an event to stare at her own district and can continue to grasp potential candidates to get a grip on the potential candidates for those seeking GOP president.
“I want people to know I’m here to serve this district. It means making myself available, making voters come forward and accessible and hearing their needs,” she said. “I’m here to serve this district. That doesn’t just mean everyone who voted for me.”
In some ways, Biggs events are familiar. It is held at the same venue as Duncan’s BBQ, Anderson’s Civic Center, and there are still $1 tickets available for law enforcement officers and first responders. As for the menu, Biggs said she shifted away from the barbecue, baked beans and roll buffet line and was catered as “like a sit-in dinner.”
“It’s not that much that I don’t think a barbecue is great. I just want my own identity,” Biggs said. “I want people to realize it’s a new ball game, and I want to move forward with my own congruence.”
