Jamie Redknap feels that everyone suspects Arsenal is now “completely wrong,” but he feels he’s “speculating” what the title race looks like now.
Arsenal came from behind by beating Newcastle 2-1 at St James Park on Sunday. It continued as Magpies followed a promising start as Magpies, rising above the Gunners’ defense to get the header in the first half.
Heading towards the final ten minutes, Arsenal went down 1-0, with doubts about their legitimacy in the title race yelling loudly, but the headers of Mikel Merino and Gabriel Magalges confirmed the victory.
Arsenal now means they are shy about Premier League leaders and current champion Liverpool, and Rednap has been careful not to suggest firmly to the title race, but they feel they are winning that gunners should not be amortized.
He said on Sky Sports:
“What it shows today is that Arsenal is right in the mix, and anyone who doubts them is completely wrong.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was excited by the victory attitude on his part.
He said:
It produced a lot from open play in a variety of ways. (Nick) Pope was incredible today, he denies our goal. Newcastle praises the way they compete, how difficult they make it for you. ”
“The players who have come, the impact players they’ve made that difference. Martin (Odegard) and (Gabriel) Martinelli are strong. Mikel (Merino) is a big target threat from the middle, and he’ll beat you.”
