Reports show Manchester United have been hit by their desire to offload Antony, but there is a renewed interest in another expensive flop.
Antony has recently linked his move to Saudi Arabia after a fruitful six-month loan with Real Betis.
The Brazilian winger joined United from Ajax in August 2022 for around £85 million, unable to withstand a large price tag. However, his form increased the player’s value later last season ahead of the summer sale.
Bettis wants to keep Antony up, but is struggling to match the 25-year-old’s wage demands. He currently earns £105,000 a week at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have so far failed in attempts to shift all unnecessary high-income earners, except that the new Barcelona loan signs Marcus Rashford.
Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Antony are all surplus in the requirements, and Reuben Amorim wants to move them and reinvest them in a new signature.
The club signed with Brian Mbeumo and Mash Kuni for a total of £127.5 million, but Amorim wants a new centre forward, and potentially a midfielder and goalkeeper, the latter being conditional on Andre Onana’s departure.
It was reported by Mercato on Monday that Saudi Arabia’s professional league side, Al Nassle, captained by United legend Cristiano Ronaldo, had made Antony’s opening offer.
Meanwhile, a fresh report from Antendos says that Antony “rejected” offers from Brazilian clubs Sao Paulo and Botafogo.
Certainly, the previous Ajax forward “excluded” his return to his hometown in the summer transfer window.
It has been confirmed that Antony is “not in United’s plans for next season,” but “São Paulo, who shows interest,” has received “negative results” from Serie A.
The Middle Eastern club adds that they are interested, but the aforementioned “offer” by Al Nasr has not been mentioned.
Another player who will be able to leave United this summer is Rasmus Hoilund, who is not part of Amorim’s bomb squad along with Antony, Sancho, Ghanacho and Tyrel Malacia.
Hojlund has been strongly linked to joining the Premier League Giants from Atalanta in the summer window of 2023 and returning to Italy’s Serie A in recent months.
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, former Atalanta head coach Giampierogasperini is eager to reunite in Rome at the end of 2024/25 by the veteran boss.
The report argues that Artem Dovbyk’s uncertain future could open the door to the 22-year-old’s arrival in Denmark.
Calciomercato said:
In the case of Dovic’s transfer, Roma tried to return Rasmus Hosilund to Italy. The Danish striker, born in 2003, has signed a contract with Manchester United until June 2028 (plus another season option) of 3 million euros worth of net purity per year.
His name was linked in markets with other Italian clubs such as Inter (before the explosion of Pioesposito, Bonnie’s arrival from Palma, and Lookman’s negotiations from Atalanta), Naples (before the arrival of Lucca from Udinese) (instead of Colomuani and Dalwinnes), Juventus (around the arrival of Lucca from Udinese)
Hojlund only scored 26 goals in United’s 95 games, while Antony has only recorded 17 goals involved in 96 appearances.
