Assort Health, a startup that uses AI to automate patient communication for specialized medical practices, raised about $50 million in a $750 million round in the Series B round, according to three sources familiar with the transaction. The latest round coming just four months after the company raised a $22 million Series A is led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, those sources say.
The company’s AI voice agent is designed to take over a large number of repetitive tasks, including scheduling, cancellations, and frequently asked questions that front desk staff normally manage, allowing human staff to focus on more complex or sensitive patient interactions.
Assort Health is one of several startups that recently raised new funds to use AI to ease the volume of calls for clinic patients.
Last week, Eliseai, which automates customer service for front desks in real estate and healthcare offices, announced that it has secured a $250 million Series E, led by Andreessen Horowitz, and valued the company at $2.2 billion. Hello Patient is another AI-powered assistant to Medical Office, raising a $20 million Series A earlier this month at a $100 million valuation led by Smale Venture Partners.
The healthcare industry is increasingly embracing AI solutions, as seen in the growing adoption of medical scribes from companies such as Abridge and Amvience Healthcare. Investors are currently betting that patient communication will become the next major area of AI implementation.
Assort Health serves long-awaited small and medium-sized care offices, prompt responses from AI agents could help these offices lose fewer patients due to competing practices.
Assort Health’s annual recurring revenue (ARR) exceeds $3 million, but two sources say the company is growing rapidly. The startup initially focused on orthopedic and physical care offices, but recently expanded its offering to other specialties such as OB-Gyn, dermatology and dentistry.
