Aston Villa has once “expressed interest” in completing a contract with West Ham star Lucas Paketa, allowing Manchester United to hijack on another incoming and outgoing move.
This summer has been quiet as they were unable to compete in the Champions League on the final day of last season. He’s already limited his small transfer budget as he struggles to star in the PSR regulations.
Goalkeepers Marco Bizot, Forward Evann Dues and Forward have been signed for over £30 million this summer.
And Unai Emery confirmed at his press conference ahead of the clash with Crystal Palace on Sunday that he “need two or three more players” before the windows close on Monday.
Emery said:
“We only need to improve the team numbers along with the players we need for the season, and now we need two or three more players. This is an idea.”
Villa is still in discussion with Paris Saint-Germain about re-signing Marco Asensio, who was impressed by the loan late last season.

Personal terminology is not considered a problem, but the two clubs struggle to agree to Spanish International’s rates.
And it was pushed for the villa to consider Paketa’s move. Paketa scored an astonishing goal in a 5-1 defeat to Chelsea last weekend, and began all three of the first three fixtures of the season after the FA announced in July the regulatory commission’s most serious charge of spot fixation against Brazil International.
He had a heavy connection to his move to Manchester City in the summer of 2023. The allegations have come to light, and Athletic claims that 28-year-old Emery and the villa recruitment staff along with “great worshippers” have “expressed interest” in the villa landing him before the deadline.
It will be added to the report:
“However, it’s very difficult to arrange a financial package. Villa is working to comply with UEFA restrictions and it could be highly likely that West Ham will require it.”
And Telegraph’s Mike McGrath has argued that Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Sen Lammens (who is believed to be on the verge of his move to Manchester United) has also “emerged as an option for Aston Villa.”
McGrath also runs the 23-year-old, adding that the landing spot has “not yet been decided” this summer.
