Reports say Arsenal sports director Andrea Berta was “happy” with the Gunners signing Kepa Alizabaraga over Joan Garcia over the summer.
The Gunners made eight new signs during the summer transfer period, in order for the Gunners Board to support Mikel Arteta to end the club’s title drought.
Arsenal has not won a Premier League title for 22 years since Arsen Wenger’s early days, but Arteta has led the gunners to runner-up positions in each of the last three seasons.
And the signatures of Kepa Alizabaraga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgado, Noni Madueke, Christian Mosquera, Victor Gyoker, Ebechi Eze and Piero Hincapie should give the gunners the opportunity to compete again for the title.
Arsenal strengthened its goalkeeping division by adding Kepa from Chelsea for £5 million on capture after João Garcia decided to join Barcelona.
Gunner wanted to sign Garcia from Espanyol, but Athletic claims he was happy that Arsenal missed the Spaniard as he allowed Arsenal to get Quepa instead.

The Athletic wrote: He was always wary of approving a 25 million euro move for Joan Garcia. When Garcia chose Barcelona instead, Berta was willing to pivot at Quepa and his £5 million release clause.
“When it was revealed that Thomas Party was leaving the club, Berta insisted that he needed an experienced oven-ready alternative, which helped him sign the 31-year-old Norgaard from Brentford over something like Lucian Agume in Sevilla.
Arsenal was reverted by a great free kick from Liverpool star Dominique Schizoboschlei over the weekend as Gunner lost 1-0 at Anfield in the first loss of the new campaign.
The gunner was criticized by Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel for “the ugly brand of football” “it’s a hassle to watch”.

Schmeichel said in Viaplay: “We’ve never wanted to win a team at a football game more than Liverpool today. Arsenal brings an ugly brand to our game!”
He added: “I don’t want to sham Arsenal, but their football brand is a pain to watch. They are designed to exploit the enemies while waiting for a set.”
Another man’s UTD legend Gary Neville was critical of the gunners that Sky Sports critics urged Arteta to allow more “risks” in the game.
In his commentary, Neville states: “The same old, same old as Arsenal fans – they’ve seen this before. They look comfortable in the big game, but at this point they don’t take that risk in the game.
