EXCLUSIVE: Princess Pictures, Brooke Posch and John Hodges have wrapped production on under-the-radar horror-thriller Stake Out.
Brenton Thwaites (Titans), Charlee Fraser (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga) and Danny Huston (Yellowstone) star in the film about a former couple who stake out the man they suspect of committing murder only to uncover an even more gruesome reality.
This marks the second feature from writer-directors Ben and Paul China, whose previous credits include Jon Bernthal and Christopher Abbott thriller Sweet Virginia. The brothers have since made the transition to directing with their debut feature Night Shift, starring Phoebe Tonkin, also produced by John Hodges.
Producers are Laura Waters and Christopher Casanova of Princess Pictures alongside John Hodges and Brooke Posch of Good and Done. Julie Eckersley and Emma Fitzsimons serve as executive producers for Princess Pictures.
Umbrella will release in Australia and New Zealand. Architect is handling international sales while UTA Independent Film Group represents North American rights.
Laura Waters and Christopher Casanova’s Princess Pictures was most recently an exec producer on Sundance hit Together. The film also marks Brooke Posch’s first feature since launching Good & Done last year, while John Hodges produces under his Wolf Supply Company banner. Hodges recently wrapped Johannes Roberts’ Primate for Paramount, slated for a January release. Recently, Posch and Hodges teamed up to produce Fire Island for Searchlight Pictures.
The movie was filmed on location in Melbourne, Victoria, with assistance from VicScreen.
“This film is a love letter to the theatrical experience and we cannot wait for audiences to see what we have deviously cooked up,” said Paul and Benjamin China.
“Paul and Benjamin have crafted a thriller that twists a familiar setup into something unexpected,” said Laura Waters. “At Princess, we’re always looking for bold storytellers who challenge the way audiences see the world and Stake Out is exactly that.”
Ben and Paul China are represented by UTA, Kaplan Perrone, and Mckuin Frankel Whitehead LLP. Thwaites is represented by Aran Michael Management, Luber Roklin Entertainment & UTA. Fraser is represented by Untitled Entertainment and United management. Huston is represented by UTA, Julian Belfrage Associates, Untitled Entertainment, and Myman Greenspan Fox.
