Bruce Springsteen Doc Set For BBC – Global Briefs

-

Bruce Springsteen’s Time In Britain To Be Explored In BBC Doc

An exclusive new interview with the The Boss himself will feature in a BBC documentary about Bruce Springsteen in the UK. When Bruce Springsteen Came To Britain will tell the story of how a 26-year-old Springsteen and the E Street Band first arrived in the UK in November 1975 for a sold-out performance at the Hammersmith Odeon, giving his new album Born to Run its European premiere. In his exclusive sit-down, Springsteen will tell stories and reveal how he was so disappointed by his own performance that night that he couldn’t watch the footage back for over 30 years. The doc is being produced by All3Media-backed Wise Owl Films. Rachel Davies, Commissioning Editor, BBC Music said: “Bruce Springsteen is not only a global music icon, but he’s an honorary Brit here in the UK. We know BBC viewers will love watching this film, which lifts the lid on his early visits to the UK with a world exclusive new interview.”

Trio Of UK Podcast Groups Merge

Platform Media, Listen Entertainment and Goldhawk Productions are merging to form a major player in the UK podcasting scene. The resulting London-based company, which will operate under the Platform Media brand, will work in production, branded entertainment and marketing and have eight-figure revenues. All three companies are part of PodX, which last week bought out Platform’s minority shareholders after acquiring a majority last year. Listen was acquired in 2023 and Goldhawk in 2022. Josh Adley and Matthew Sherry will lead Platform as co-CEOs. The group’s podcasts include Olivia Attwood’s So Wrong It’s Right; the BBC’s The Traitors: Uncloaked; The Good, The Bad, and The Rugby with Mike Tindall, James Haskell and Alex Payne; Central Intelligence with Kim Cattrall and Ed Harris; and Making A Scene with David Walliams and Matt Lucas. “There are seismic shifts happening in the podcast industry right now,” said Sherry. “We’ve pioneered a unique monetisation model that is leading the industry forward. This merger is the natural next step, and we’re ready to make a lasting impact.”

Cristiano Ronaldo & Matthew Vaughn Team For Film Venture

Here are two names you might not have expected to see together today: soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and filmmaker Matthew Vaughn. The pair have teamed up to launch UR MARV, an indie film joint venture that is “embracing innovative technology.” They have already financed and produced a pair of action features and are lining up a third, with details on the first set to be announced. “This is an exciting chapter for me, as I look ahead to new ventures in business, said Ronaldo, who aged 40 continues to play professional football in a career in which he’s scored more than 900 goals. “Cristiano has created stories on the pitch that I could never have written, and I look forward to creating inspiring movies with him – he is a real-life superhero,” added Vaughn
