Reports say Chelsea “want to steal” the Barcelona star at the end of the transfer period this summer, following a “big hit.”
Chelsea is currently second in the ranking of biggest spenders in Europe this summer as they can drive Liverpool away as a leader in the coming weeks.
This is because Bruce can target an alternative to Levi Colwill, who suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage, allowing him to enter the centre-back market.
Chelsea revealed Colwill’s injuries in a statement Thursday evening. They write:
“The 22-year-old returned to Cobham for the preseason earlier this week and unfortunately maintained a training injury.
‘A medical evaluation involves a course of action that requires surgery.
“Levi will now begin his recovery and be supported by the medical school of Cobham’s club in his rehabilitation phase.”

Although Chelsea has already signed Ajax versatile defender Jorrel Hato this summer, Colwill’s injury could trigger another new defender’s move, and reports from Spanish outlet Fichajes claim they “want to steal” Ronald Araujo from Barcelona.
Uruguay International recently extended its contract with Barcelona until 2031, but he is heavily linked with exits amid the need for a mixed form and club to raise funds for summer signatures.
Araujo has been sporadically linked to potential moves into the Premier League over the last few months, and Chelsea is usually part of that conversation.
Now, Fichejes claims that Chelsea has “started a search for a reliable centre-back” following the “big hit” of Colwill’s injury.

Araujo is said to be “notable” as the best option for “what has been discussed” at Chelsea, but the report also reveals potential prices for defenders.
It will be added to the report:
Despite the contract remains in place until 2031, Camp Nou is reportedly willing to consider an offer of around 50 million euros.
“Chelsea sees South American defenders as an ideal opportunity to strengthen their core axis using a profile that combines speed, strength and leadership. Maresca continues to believe that Araujo will be able to regain his position as one of the best positions in the world. This move will also help Barca ease the financial situation and open the door to negotiations that are currently in its early stages.
