Jamie Carragher has singled out the ‘only thing’ that can stop Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal from winning the Premier League this season.
After a strong start to the season, Liverpool fell into a bit of a crisis with consecutive losses, while Arsenal overtook the Reds to take the lead and become favorites for the championship.
Most people now believe that Arteta has the strongest team in the Premier League at his disposal and therefore has no excuse not to fight to the end despite finishing second in the last three seasons.

And while Liverpool legend Carragher believes Arsenal are currently favorites because they have the “best team”, he has named one thing that could spell their downfall.
“The only thing that can stop[Arsenal]is the same thing that has stopped other teams in the past,” Carragher said on the Stick to Football podcast.
“We want it very much in March or April. The supporters want it very much. “At the moment, Liverpool are not themselves.
“Arsenal have the best team. They are in better shape than Liverpool at the moment. Liverpool may need a few months to integrate new players.”
“They’ll be back. I think Alex Ferguson used to say if we could get three or four points behind the leaders in January or February, like[Manchester United]used to do…”
Gary Neville added: “Especially when you’re a team that hasn’t won that many games.”
“That’s right,” added Mr Carragher. “If Liverpool can get five or six points up in February…I think Liverpool will be better.
“I don’t think the points they’re getting on the board are worth their performance in some ways.
“There will still be moments before Christmas where we drop points at unexpected times.
“But Arsenal will drop points. That’s football. If Liverpool and Man City can do what United under Ferguson did (win the title).”

Arsenal hero Ian Wright feels positive about his former club’s chances this season and believes it is now Arteta’s job to “put in the right pieces at the right time” after the Spaniard cited “some consequences” this season of picking the wrong team.
“Last week’s result was a reassurance to people that, listen, we have a great chance to win the league,” Wright said.
“I think we have the best team in the league at the moment. It’s up to the manager to bring in the right pieces at the right time.”
“We’ve seen some results where we thought he could have brought on another player to finish the game, but he still did his thing in bringing on players. We finished the game well against Newcastle. He was more positive and that’s exactly what we wanted.
“Because last year, when Liverpool failed, we didn’t take advantage of that. We didn’t take advantage of it. But when we did it against Newcastle, we made people realize that this is a step forward in what we’re trying to do and we showed that we’re definitely going to be in this fight as much as we can.”
“Now, when you talk about Arsenal, everyone says, ‘Oh, it’s Arsenal now’, because we’ve seen City and Liverpool go under.
“Arsenal are in control at the moment and you can see the mentality of the players here. They’ve been runners-up three times and they know what to do. They’ve been following City and Liverpool for the last few seasons. It’s their time now and it’s up to them to do it mentally.”
“There’s already a lot of excitement about winning and there’s no need to be afraid to say that. Arsenal are in a position to win.”
