EXCLUSIVE: Veteran entertainment attorney Charles Barsamian has joined Entertainment Law Partners (ELP) as Managing Partner.
Barsamian will lead the firm’s newly launched New York City office. He joins Tifanie J. Acosta and Michael Roban as a named partner.
The company has said Barsamian will also spearhead the development of a dedicated music division, representing music publishers, catalogs, record labels, and sync alongside composers, producers, artists, and music supervisors.
A vet of the indie production scene, Barsamian is an Executive Producer and served as Production Counsel on several titles debuting this fall, including Derek Cianfrance’s Roofman, a TIFF premiere distributed by Paramount Pictures; Julian Schnabel’s In the Hand of Dante, set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival; and Mubi’s Lurker. He was a co-producer on Nick Pizzolato’s Easy’s Waltz, also set to debut at TIFF.
Barsamian most recently led his own firm, the Charles M. Barsamian Law Firm of New York, PLLC, and served as Production Counsel on Sean Baker’s Anora.
Founded in 2007 by Tifanie J. Acosta, Entertainment Law Partners reps domestic and international corporate and entertainment clients, including IP funds, producers, directors, actors, financiers, distributors, and writers.
Acosta and Roban have recently served as production legal, finance legal, and co-executive producers on Gus Van Sant’s Dead Man’s Wire, starring Al Pacino, Colman Domingo, Bill Skarsgård, and Dacre Montgomery, which will have its world premiere at Venice. Acosta and Roban also provided co-production legal (alongside Barsamian) for Roofman, starring Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst.
“I am excited to join Tifanie and Michael at Entertainment Law Partners and to help shape its growth while expanding its market impact,” Barsamian said in a statement.
“ELP’s client-focused mission and team-oriented culture perfectly align with the strengths, values, and vision I have maintained while in private practice. Our shared knowledge and depth of experience will be invaluable in navigating the hyper-competitive and increasingly complex intellectual property market, and joining forces gives us access to additional resources and capabilities, allowing us to bring a more innovative, competitive, and comprehensive offering to our clients.”
