Milan (AP) – Versace’s “intimate event” to launch Dario Vitale During Friday’s Milan Fashion Week, the new creative director spreads over the second floor of a 17th-century Palazzo, attracting hundreds of screaming Chinese pop star fans waving bundles of green and light blue balloons.
Vitale’s debut collection was a full throttle return to the overtly sexual Versace of the 1980s and 1990s. Tightened as tightly as possible as can be seen in the tightly snug high-waisted jeans, the open-sided t-shirt, the dress, carelessly left open on the back, leaving a burst of joy in the main colour.
The gorgeous energy of that decade echoed through the show soundtracks of George Michael, Prince and Eurysmics.
Transition time
Vitale’s ascension at Versace marks a dramatic turn of the fashion house. He was later the third creative director Gianni Versace, The man killed in 1997 and his sister Donatera Versace, Vitale took on the role after his death until he took over April 1st. Donatella Versace stayed as a brand ambassador and welcomed the 41-year-old as the young designer champion.
The change in creative leadership is due to the Prada Group completing Versace purchases in transactions expected to be completed by the end of the year. Convenient for transitions, Vitale recently worked at Miu Miu, the design house of Prada’s younger sister brand.
Take the helm
If he was nervous about being the first non-family member to do creative reign at Versace, he didn’t show it as he hugged journalist gags after the show and detained the court.
He said he grew up in Italy, and he said he became close to Versace’s code.
“It belongs to culture. That’s something you really know,” he said.
Because of its familiarity, he said when he went to the archives, it rarely selects and reinterprets the work and finds the founder’s “spirit,” Gianni Versace’s “spirit.”
When he began remake Versace this season, Vitale said he was looking for a way to express sexy, as if the dress was left completely open just before it fell on the floor, or he was looking for a way to express sexy, as if he was reinterpreting the daily Italian uniforms of undershirts, shirts and sweaters in a sexy way.
“What’s sexy? We don’t get enough. We’ll keep trying,” he said.
venue
Staging has reinforced decadence. Inside the Pinakoteca Ambrosiana Art Gallery, the rooms were styled like a confused, noble house, with silver beds being pushed into the corner, a work computer turned on, and a work computer turned on with Vital’s own sheet. “I needed that little niche that I would go to to stay,” he said.
Invitation – Even the love letter quoting Keats was more about seeking human contact than holding an event, he said.
“You know, it’s not even sex. It’s an experience. It’s about smell, it’s about the touch aspect. It’s about the next day’s souvenir. It’s not even in that moment,” he said.
VIP Guest
Outside, fans clogged a small street around the art gallery venue, particularly cheering on Chinese actor Din Yuki and Chinese singer Jin Yi Joo. Other A-listers adorned with Versace for the premiere event were Romeo Beckham, American actor Lily McKinnerney, Korean singer Hyunjin and the Korean coed group Allday Project.
