Dave Franco is open to the idea of playing Luigi Mangione in a biopic.
The actor and his wife, Alison Brie, made an appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, where he was asked about portraying Mangione.
“Oh, how do I answer this?” Franco said that after being asked by a fan if he would play Mangione, social media came to a consensus that the actor should play him.
Franco added, “No one has approached me about it yet, I’ll say that. This is something that more people in my life reached out about this exact thing than anything else that has ever happened.”
In the end, the Together star seemed to be open to the idea if he was offered the role, with him adding, “Let’s just say I’m open if the right people… and let’s just leave it at that.”
Mangione is an American accused of killing Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare. He faces multiple federal and state charges, including murder with a firearm, forgery, and identity falsification.
In December 2024, Mangione pleaded not guilty to the charges. His next court appearance for the New York state case is set for September 16.
Franco was recently nominated for the Primetime Emmy Awards in the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series category for his appearance on Apple TV+’s The Studio. The actor had previously been nominated at the Emmys for his role in 2022’s Pam & Tommy. Franco’s next film, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t will be released on November 14.
