EXCLUSIVE: Up-and-comer Delaney Quinn (The Roses) has landed the lead role in Buddy, the mysterious indie horror film written and directed by Too Many Cooks helmer Casper Kelly, which also stars Cristin Milioti and Topher Grace.
Character details are under wraps, as is the plot of the film. Written by Kelly and Jamie King (World’s Best), it’s been described to date as a “new experience in horror.”
Production on Buddy is underway in Ohio, with J.D. Lifshitz & Raphael Margules producing for BoulderLight (Companion, Friendship), alongside Tyler Davidson & Drew Sykes for Low Spark Films (Emily the Criminal, Take Shelter) — which co-financed the project — in association with Sipur Studios (Bad Boy) and Substance. BoulderLight VP of Development & Production Tracy Rosenblum is exec producing.
Soon to be seen starring opposite Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch in The Roses, Jay Roach’s remake of the classic dark comedy from 1989, which Searchlight releases on August 29, Quinn will thereafter be seen starring opposite Rose Byrne in the A24 drama If I Had Legs I’d Lick You, which premiered at Sundance to critical acclaim and will be seen coming up at TIFF.
Other notable credits for the actress include Apple Original Films’ The Beanie Bubble, Law & Order, Pete Davidson’s Bupkis, as well as recurring roles on Power Book III: Raising Kanan and New Amsterdam. She is repped by CESD, Principal Entertainment LA, and Vainshtein Law, P.C.
