Eleven Labs has signed a deal with actors Michael Caine and Matthew McConaughey to generate voices using AI, the company announced this week.
Hollywood and AI have had an up-and-down relationship, and one of the main concerns that led to the Hollywood walkout a few years ago was its guardrails (or lack thereof). Since then, some artists have started embracing the idea of AI.
Last year, Meta announced that Meta AI would provide voice assistants like actresses Kristen Bell and Judi Dench. The company will work with ElevenLabs investor McConaughey to use his AI voice to translate his newsletter into Spanish audio.
In addition to Kane, Eleven Labs also announced this week that it is launching a marketplace where brands can use certified AI-generated celebrity testimonials, including names like Liza Minnelli and Dr. Maya Angelou. ElevenLabs is one of the most popular AI unicorn companies, with backers such as a16z and ICONIQ.
