Elon Musk’s Xai is available with embracing faces on the open source platform, with the weights of the models used to shape older versions of the AI model GROK, particularly the GROK 2.5.
“The @xai Grok 2.5 model, which was our best last year, is now open source,” Musk wrote to X:
AI engineer Tim Kellogg described the GROK license as “customized on several anti-play conditions.”
Grok (who recently merged with Xai) has sparked considerable controversy, especially after the chatbots seemed obsessed with the “white genocide” conspiracy theory, skeptical about the toll plaza for the death of the Holocaust, describing it as “mechahitler,” leading Xai.
And while Musk described the latest version, the Grok 4, as “AI seeking the biggest truth,” the model appears to be consulting Musk’s social media accounts before answering controversial questions.
