Enigmanortenho lost his lead singer.
Ernesto Barajas was shot dead on August 19th in the parking lot of Zapopan in Jalisco, Mexico. He was 38 years old.
Two men on motorbikes approached Barajas and fired fire, local government told CBS News. In addition to the musician, police say one man was killed and a woman was injured in the attack.
In the wake of his death, Barajas management shared in an August 20th statement on Instagram’s story, “Rest in Peace.”
“Your Talento Linder family has always been proud of you and remember you as the great artist and human you were you,” the organization added. “May God bless you.”
Founded in 2004, Enigma Norteño became well known as part of the “Narcocorido” subgenre of music, centering on songs about real-life drug traffickers and cartel members.
“It’s dangerous to release corrido without permission,” Barajas told Espanyol, which became independent in 2022.
