EXCLUSIVE: Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight) has signed on to star in the comedy drama Run Amok from co-writers Truman Hanks and William Bonnell. The film will shoot this summer in Los Angeles.
The film’s ensemble cast also features Bronson Pinchot (Beverly Hills Cop), Alexander James Rodriguez (Murder Motel), Kate Hess (Life Support), Colter B. Ford (Heavy Hitters), Wolf Taitano (Trumpacolypse), Alex Garcia Pompa (Godzilla: King of the Monsters), Finn Sanders (Doe a Deer) and singer Benji Patterson.
Directed by Bonnell, with Hanks as Director of Photography, Run Amok follows the chaos that reigns when the eccentric and dysfunctional Muck family gathers following the unexpected death of their patriarch, Dick Muck (Roberts), an accomplished Hollywood producer and mogul. At the lavish Beverly Hills estate, Dick’s four adult children, the eldest and scatterbrained Dick Jr. (Ford), glamorous Penny (Hess), the ambitious Tyler (Patterson), and youngest of the clan Cedar (Rodriguez), come together for what they assume is a standard will-reading by their father’s eccentric and unconventional attorney Harvey Zuckerman (Pinchot).
Instead, the group finds themselves embroiled in a bizarre and absurd scavenger hunt orchestrated by their late father, who has left his substantial $60 million fortune to whichever of them can solve his carefully devised riddle first. The film is said to be 25% scripted and 75% improvisation.
Run Amok is being produced by William Bonnell with his production company at New Frontier Pictures, and Truman Hanks. Executive producers on the feature include Liz Rodriguez (EMR Media) and Sebastian Twardosz (Savant Artists), who will also represent the project for sales.
Roberts is repped by Sovereign Talent Group, Pinchot and Rodriguez by Bohemia Group.
