On Tuesday, Meta announced a new Facebook algorithm update that will showcase more reel videos to suit the user’s preferences. The update includes features that give users more control over the videos they see, AI-powered search suggestions, and a new friend bubble.
Facebook will make it easier for users to express their indifference to these types of videos. You can choose “No Interested” on the reel, or flag comments and encourage them to adapt to the recommendation engine based on this feedback.
The “Save” feature has also been updated, making it easier to collect your favorite reels and posts in one place.
This change may help you address user complaints about unwanted content. Many users express their dissatisfaction with scammers, annoying or reels filled with videos generated by low quality AI. Meta has invested heavily in AI, and recently launched a short-form video feed called “Vibes” and has only AI-generated content in the Meta AI app.
Additionally, the algorithm updates are intended to prioritize new content. According to the company, users present users with 50% of the reels uploaded on the same day they scroll.

The Facebook reel also includes search suggestions with AI. These suggestions recommend queries that will help users discover more content on topics they like, similar to the gray suggestions at the bottom of the Tiktok video.
Additionally, there will be a new friend bubble in the reels and main feed, allowing users to see what posts their friends like. This is similar to Instagram’s features. Users can open a private message by tapping on a bubble that represents a friend’s profile photo.
