Tottenham is keen to sign the former Real Madrid defender, and Thomas Frank is leading the push after a solid start to the season.
Spurs’ property circulated under Frank. They finished 17th in the Premier League last season with Ange Postecoglou, but are now third under new management.
Tottenham has won four of seven Premier League matches so far, dropping just two points from their first two Champions League games and breathing in the next round of the League Cup.
Their defense is particularly solid, and of their seven league games, the Spurs admit that they only have five goals.
But Frank now wants to add more quality to his backline. According to Tbrfootball, they are the latest club to race for the services of Lazio’s defender Mario Gira.
The former Real Madrid centre back played everything except six minutes in Serie A this season, helping to hold a clean sheet in two games.
Tottenham wants to bolster its centre-back options beyond star pairs Christian Romero and Mickey Van Deben.
But they also have interest from their Premier League rivals. According to the report, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Everton are keen to add the Spaniard to the ranks after a “impressive performance” at Lazio.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth is said to have spoken with Gira over the summer and is looking for an alternative to the late defenders Dean Huizen and Ilya Zabarni.
It is believed that the spanner could be thrown into the Tottenham pursuit work, as already progressed by Cherry.
The presence of Champions League football in North London could be Gila’s future decision-maker if many of the aforementioned sides were chasing him.

Gira played only one season in elite European competitions and had to settle in Europa League and UEFA Conference League football.
However, the 25-year-old was called to a Spanish team at the beginning of the year, so if he had the opportunity to consistently play Champions League football and show himself at the top level, Gira might see it as an opportunity to push his case for a full international honor.
It’s not yet seen how much he will cost, but with interest from a few places, the defenders may soon line up for a move.
