EXCLUSIVE: Franka Potente (Run Lola Run, Mayfair Witches) has joined the cast of AMC‘s Dark Winds in a key guest role for Season 4. Details regarding her character are under wraps.
The series was renewed for a fourth season ahead of the show’s third season premiere. New episodes are currently airing Sunday nights at 9 p.m.
Set in 1971 on a remote outpost of the Navajo Nation near Monument Valley, Dark Winds follows Lt. Joe Leaphorn of the Tribal Police (Zahn McClarnon) as he is besieged by a series of seemingly unrelated crimes. The closer he digs to the truth, the more he exposes the wounds of his past. He is joined on this journey by his new deputy, Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon). Chee also has old scores to settle from his youth on the reservation. Together, the two men battle the forces of evil, each other and their own personal demons on the path to salvation.
Season 3 picks up six months after the events of Season 2 and follows Lt. Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee as they investigate the disappearance of two boys, with only an abandoned bicycle and blood-stained patch of ground left in their wake. Meanwhile, Bernadette Manuelito (Jessica Matten) attempts to settle into her new life 500 miles from home with the Border Patrol, but stumbles across a conspiracy involving human and drug smuggling with far-reaching implications.
Production on Season 4 will kick off this month in Santa Fe, New Mexico and will consist of eight, hour-long episodes with a premiere set for 2026.
Potente famously starred as the lead of the acclaimed film, Run Lola Run. After half a decade of roles in German productions, Potente made the transition into Hollywood with her role in the biographical crime film Blow opposite Johnny Depp, and achieved wider recognition for her appearances in the Bourne franchise opposite Matt Damon. She portrayed a communist revolutionary in the feature Che opposite Benicio Del Toro, Rodrigo Santoro and Demian Bichir, and psychologist “Anita Gregory” in The Conjuring 2. Other notable films include Anatomy, The Princess and the Warrior, Creep, Romulus, My Father, Eichmann, and Muse.
Most recently, she played Talamasca agent “Annamieke” in the AMC series Mayfair Witches. She also recently played the lead villain in the new season of the DC/HBO Max series Titans and the Apple TV+ series Echo 3 created and directed by Mark Boal. Potente is also lending her voice for the new Netflix animated series Castlevania: Nocturne. She starred opposite Tom Hardy in the acclaimed FX series Taboo and opposite Diane Kruger in The Bridge.
