EXCLUSIVE: Justin Chon (Chief of War, Pachinko), Bobby Hundreds and Garrett Basch (What We Do in the Shadows, Reservation Dogs) are developing the half-hour series Burnfield based on Hundreds and Chon’s experience in the streetwear scene, preemptively bought by FX, sources tell Deadline.
Hundreds (née Kim) co-founded the streetwear brand The Hundreds alongside Bobby Hundreds (née Shenassafar) more than two decades ago. According to its official website, the company’s apparel is reminiscent of ‘90s workwear and Californian subculture tribes. Bobby Hundreds noted on the company’s blog in 2016, that he found inspiration in the early years from “an enclave of renegade graphic designers coming out of San Diego, Hawaii, and Hong Kong” because they were “weird with placements, neon prints, and bold statements.”
Chon owned and operated a chain of streetwear multi-stores called The Attic in Southern California for 10 years.
Chon and Hundreds will co-create and co-showrun the series. Both are executive producers alongside Basch through his first-look deal at FX. Additionally, Chon is attached to direct. FX Productions and Basch’s production company, Dive, will produce, with Dive’s Molly Leonard overseeing on behalf of the company.
Chon and Hundreds are attached as director and screenwriter, respectively, on the eponymous Sublime biopic from 3000 Pictures and Chernin starring KJ Apa.
Chon recently directed and executive produced the pilot and episode of Apple TV+’s Chief of War starring Jason Momoa premiering in August 2025. He wrote, directed, and starred in the 2021 film Blue Bayou, co-starring Alicia Vikander, which premiered at Cannes and sold competitively to Focus Features. Additionally, he executive produced and directed episodes of Apple TV+’s Pachinko for its freshman season. He is currently adapting and attached to direct an original feature, Nightriderz, a noir crime drama set in Hawaii, for Amazon Studios with Brad Weston producing. Chon is represented by WME, Blue Marble Management, and McKuin Frankel.
Hundreds is a Los Angeles author, writer, designer, and entrepreneur. In addition to his current work on Sublime, he is the bestselling author of This is Not a T-Shirt, a memoir about his life and building a streetwear brand around community. He wrote his second novel, NFTs Are A Scam, published in Spring 2023 by MCD Books under Farrar, Straus & Giroux. He is currently the Chief Creative Officer of The Hundreds. He is repped by UTA, Blue Marble Management, and Hansen Jacobsen.
Basch’s company, Dive, maintains a longstanding first-look deal with FX, which has yielded acclaimed series such as What We Do in the Shadows, Reservation Dogs, and the upcoming Tulsa noir, The Sensitive Kind. Other recent shows include Hulu’s Interior Chinatown, Max’s Our Flag Means Death and the Emmy Award-winning Ripley. He is repped by Blue Marble Management and Gang, Tyre.
