EXCLUSIVE: Amazon MGM Studios‘ The Devil’s Mouth has added Gavin Casalegno, Nico Hiraga, Tommi Rose, and Tayme Thapthimthong to the Jeff Wadlow directed genre movie. The foursome join previously announced stars Kathryn Newton and Lana Condor in a pic about a group of college friends on a trip to Thailand who get trapped in an underwater cave system with a bull shark. Chaos ensues as they try to survive.
The film, which hails from Lionsgate, is produced by Thunder Road Films’ Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, and Wadlow.
Aja Gabel (Sunny; The Staircase; upcoming Five Star Weekend) and Myung Joh Wesner (Star Wars: Skeleton Crew; High Potential) wrote the script, which was featured on the 2019 Black List, with latest revisions by Wadlow.
Carsten Lorenz and Will Flynn are EPs. Scott O’Brien and Pavan Kalidindi are overseeing the project for Lionsgate.
Casalegno stars on Prime Video’s hit series The Summer I Turned Pretty, based on Jenny Han’s New York Times best-selling book series. He returns as Jeremiah Fisher in the highly anticipated third and final season, which premiered July 16th. Casalegno recently starred in the independent film Queen of the Ring. Casalegno made his feature film debut in Darren Aronofsky’s Noah. TV credits also include The Vampire Diaries and a recurring role on The CW’s Walker. Hiraga stars as the co-lead of New Line’s Sweethearts, which is streaming on HBO Max, and will next appear in Amy Landecker’s directorial debut, For Worse. Rose can most recently be seen in Netflix’s Outer Banks, and will next be seen in films including A Gunfighter’s Deal and Florida Wild. Thapthimthong stars as Gaitok on HBO’s third season of the Emmy nominated series The White Lotus. In 2017, Tayme was cast in the Swedish-Thai crime drama series, Farang. Thapthimthong is represented by Artist International Group, Gersh Agency and Independent Talent Group.
