Anthony Gordon has collided with Bayern legend Karl Heinz Rammenijge over a “silly” comment about New Castle United striker Nick Urtemade.
This week, Bavarian board member Rummenigge was called a Newcastle “idiot” for paying £65 million from Stuttgart to sign Woltemade.
“We certainly didn’t do that, so we can only celebrate them in Stuttgart, as it were, saying we would pay so much,” he said in an interview with Blickpunkt Sport.
Woltemade scored three goals in his first four Newcastle matches.
His new teammate, Gordon, was not impressed with Rummenigge’s comments and wondered why he was discussing players who don’t play for his club.
“I don’t know why you comment on players that aren’t at your club,” Gordon said.
“To be honest, it’s a bit stupid, especially when the players start out really well.
“If he was really starting out poorly, you made that comment, but he scored three goals in four games, so that was a bit of a weird comment.”

Gordon is lined up at Ultemade following Alexander Isaac’s move to Liverpool.
When asked what it’s like to play with Woltemade, Gordon replied. “They are two completely different players (Woltemade and Isak).
“I think it’s the first time Front 3 has all started together, so I think people need to give us a gel and give us time to get to know each other’s games.
“Nick honestly thought it was the way he kept the ball under certain pressure. His hold-up play, his link-up play, he’s fun to play together.”
After his victory in Belgium, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe commented on Rammenijge’s comments himself.
“I don’t think that’s a big motivation for Nick,” he said.
“Again, I think people will always discuss transfer fees and everything that goes into transfers.
“For players, I think it’s just trying to commit to what you’re being asked to do and doing your best.
“He seemed very good in that respect off the pitch. He doesn’t seem too unstable. He comes from another country and trains with a slight fuss every day.
“But he wants to improve and he wants to help his team. As long as he has those qualities, I think he’ll do very well here.”
Newcastle will face Premier Leaguers Nottingham Forest this weekend, looking for just the second top flight victory in the campaign.
Magpies currently ranked 15th in the Premier League, with 6 points from 18 and 17th in Forest with 5 points.
