From the moment of conservative activist and icon, Charlie Kirk was defeated by an assassin bullet, so the partisans began a fight over which side was responsible. It is part of a new, harsh tradition in polarized countries, seeking to lock in immediate responsibility for the act of public violence in one of two political aspects.

The responsibility game after political violence could lead to further attacks, experts warn
As the public sways from a wave of physical attacks on both Republicans and Democrats, experts warn that the Rush, accusing political movements of ambiguous and irrational behaviors, can lead to more conflict.
In the latest case, authorities announced that 22-year-old Tyler Robinson had arrested Tyler Robinson of Washington, Utah, in Kirk’s shooting. A registered voter, he has not partnered with any party and has not voted in the last two general elections, but officials have recently said that Robinson has grown more politically and expressed a negative view of Kirk.
Shortly after announcing his arrest on Fox News Friday, President Donald Trump said “extremists on the left are the problem.” However, the Prevention Federation discovered that between 2022 and 2024, all of the 61 political killings in the United States were committed by right-wing extremists. That changed on the first day of 2025. A Texas man flew the flag of the Islamic State Group and drove trucks down crowded New Orleans Street and killed 14 people. read more.
Note:
Many prominent Democrats urged gently on both sides after Kirk’s death. Among them was former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The husband was seriously injured by a hammer-wielding attacker who broke into his home in 2022 after Trump claimed he had oc-lol among other Republicans. Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson is also being asked to lower the temperature across the board.
Where some of Trump’s most amazing promises stand
Considering how many Trumps are talking in public, it can be hard to keep up with all of his promises.
Despite the pending approval of Congress, recent promises are kept. Trump spent weeks talking to the US, renamed the Department of Defense, when he had a war division created by George Washington in 1789. Trump recently tried to change his name himself through an executive order, but lawmakers must approve its permanent and formality.
Other topics are in the “still talking” stage, including changing the name of Trump Kennedy Center, Washington’s Kennedy Center. GOP-backed Congressional efforts will rename the center after First Lady Melania Trump and after Trump and her Opera House. But a full name change may prove that Trump’s name is ultimately more likely than being added to the existing building alongside Kennedy.
And some promises have disappeared, as if to deal with daylight savings. Before seizing the White House, Trump posted that the GOP works to eliminate it. In March, he said setting the watch back and forth was a 50-50 issue and therefore it was too difficult for him to stand firmly. The president then posted online to help him save time in real life in a permanent way. read more.
Note:
There are other issues, such as giving “a $5 million “gold cards” to “very high-level people” a “route to citizenship” while granting foreign visas to live and work in the United States in April. However, there was no major effort by the administration to overhaul the EB-5 immigration investor program. The Congress was created in 1990 to provide visas to investors who spend around $1 million on a company employing at least 10 people.
California Democrats turn to Tiktok to reach Hispanic voters with the governor’s race
The Democratic candidate for California governor will try Tiktok, but there is a warning. For at least for now, he only posts videos in Spanish.
Xavier Bekera, a former Biden administration health secretary, has embraced the controversial but popular short video app to target Spanish users. His campaign and research note that Hispanic adults use tiktoks in much higher numbers than black and white adults.
Becerra’s new approach was part of a Democrat’s efforts to counter the right-wing swing seen last year in both red states such as Texas and Florida, and blue states such as California, New Jersey and New York, where Trump has improved the number of Latinx people. read more.
Note:
The idea is to lock into the key user base by publishing content early on on platforms that politicians are still primarily experimenting with. That is the Trump administration is phased out multilingual services as part of its push to make the president’s English the official language of the United States.
