Manchester City manager Josep Guardiola has made a prediction as he insists Liverpool will not win the Premier League title this season, saying it is “over”.
Recently, there has been a major shift in the debate regarding the Premier League title.
In the opening weeks of this season, Liverpool have won their first five games and cemented themselves as sure-fire favorites for a back-to-back title, after investing more than £400m in the summer as Europe’s biggest spenders.
However, after that, the Reds suffered four consecutive losses in all competitions, fell from the top of the Premier League title, and fell into a mini-crisis.
Meanwhile, Arsenal and Man City continued their winning streak and moved into first and second place in the Premier League table after eight games.
Now, manager Guardiola has commented on Liverpool’s recent struggles, insisting, “They will definitely come back.”
When asked if he thought Man City would be under the radar in this season’s Premier League title race, Guardiola jokingly replied:

“And Liverpool is already over, and now it looks like Liverpool are over. And I want to say that they will definitely come back.
“I’ve said it many times, I know all the pundits, I know all the experts, I know all the former players, they all know what’s going to happen after five games, and I can’t do that.
“So you always wait for 10 or 15 games to find out exactly what’s going on. But I think obviously Liverpool and Arsenal will be there and somebody else will be there and hopefully we’ll be there too.”
Man City have been coached by Erling Haaland this season, but Guardiola has also been impressed with manager Matheus Nunez.
Guardiola describes him as an “incredible” player and has backed him to become one of the best right-backs in the world.
“He can be an incredible right-back,” Guardiola praised Nunez.

“Mateus is an incredibly physical holding midfielder and the more focused he is, the more he can become one of the best (right-backs).
“We’ve talked about it a lot, so it’s his problem now. He just has to change his mind and feel like it’s OK (to be there).”
“He has a special talent for playing on the wing and has been unbelievable in the last couple of games.”
Manchester City face Aston Villa and Villa Park this weekend, and Guardiola explained why he thinks Man City have struggled against Unai Emery’s side in recent games.
“They were much better than us in the last two games we played at Villa Park. I hope it will be different on Sunday,” Guardiola said.
“The admiration I have for Unai is huge. He’s incredibly stable, well-prepared and very smart.
“At Aston Villa, we know that this season they will not be in the Champions League where they will be fighting for points. Last season for me they were Champions League (quality) and they caused a lot of problems for the champions PSG.
“They are well organised, they have good quality and this is one of the toughest away games of the season. They are very good defensively from set-pieces and I feel they have improved a lot in the build-up. It is very difficult to control the press because of their keeper and they have a lot of players in the middle.”
“The connection between them is really good, they break the line with the striker and when they do they are very quick and attack quickly with forward speed. They are really physical.”
“Pre-season is over and the season sometimes starts slowly in terms of results, but they achieved a lot in the Premier League and were really good.”
