WASHINGTON (AP) – Republican and Democrats say their homes took the bill on Friday, Partial government closure Within two weeks.
The bill will generally continue to existing funding levels until November 21st. Democrat leaders are firmly opposed and threaten government shutdowns if Republicans don’t give Republicans a say in the measure, as some democratic support will be required to get the bill on the president’s desk for his signature.
House Speaker Mike Johnson has little room as he tries to convince Republicans to vote for the fundraising patch. Many of his meetings have routinely opposed in past budget wars. But now, GOP members see an opportunity to portray Democrats as the leader of the closure that begins on October 1, unless Congress acts.
With the potential for votes to approach, President Donald Trump was heavier on Thursday, urging House Republicans to pass the bill and put a burden on Democrats to oppose it. GOP leaders often need Trump’s help to win the holdout of the law.
“All House Republicans need to unite and vote for Jesus!” Trump said on his social media site.
Republicans could pass the bill in the House if they remain united, and speakers expressed confidence he voted on Thursday.
“We’re going to fund this government,” Johnson said.
But across the Capitol, Senate Democrats hope that the people will support their proposal Big increase Next year we will accept health insurance premiums for millions of Americans who will purchase coverage through markets established by Affordable Care Acts. They announced their own fundraising plan to extend the enhanced health insurance subsidies set to expire at the end of the year, and also introduced the reverse Medicaid cuts that were included in Republicans’ “Big Beautiful Building” earlier this year.
“The Americans see what Republicans are doing, what Democrats are doing, and it’s clear that the public’s sentiment is on our side,” Senate Democrat leader Chuck Schumer said.
Senate majority leader John Tune, Rs.D. said the Senate will vote for the House bill on Friday. However, neither is expected to win the 60 votes needed to pass.
Senators could leave town until September 29th, one day before the closing deadline. The Senate has a scheduled break next week for Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year.
Democrats on both sides of the Capitol look closely at Schumer after him Last minute decision for March Vote with Republicans to keep the government open. Schumer argued that the closure would damage Trump and give government cuts more freely to Trump and his White House. Many on the left had rebelled, with some supporters urging him to resign.
The spring vote also sparked a temporary division with House Democrat Hake Jeffries, who opposed the GOP spending bill and said he would not “conspire” in Schumer’s vote.
Two Democrat leaders say they’re united now, and Schumer says things It has been changed since March. After the Medicaid cuts pass, the public is more wary for Trump and Republicans, Schumer said.
Most Democrats appear to support Schumer’s demand that there will be negotiations on the bill – and support the threat of his closure, even if it’s unclear how they can get out of it.
Republicans say the liability is clearly on the other side if they can’t pass the bill – and using Schumer’s previous argument for the closure against him.
“Democrats don’t want to close the rap anymore. That won’t happen. If that’s the case, it’s with them,” said Rep. Ralph Norman, a member of the House Freedom Caucus.
Senator John Barrasso, a second Republican, said “Senator Schumer himself said that giving him a clean CR would avoid harmful and unnecessary closures. Now he wants to cause harmful and unnecessary closures.”
